Settings
Personalize Lokate to your liking using these preferences:
General Settings
- Units [English | Metric] — English: mph for speed and ft for altitude. Metric: km/h for speed and meter for altitude. Also affects Apple Watch.
- Coordinates [Lat/lon | USNG] — Also affects Apple Watch.
- Tracking resolution — Approximate resolutions: Low 5m (15ft), Med 2m (6ft), High 1m (3ft)
- Track color — Handler track color displayed on map.
- Handler name — Used in reports.
- Dark filter [On | Off] — Staring at a brightly lit app in the dark destroys night vision. The dark filter color is applied as a filter across most bright areas. Critical information (heading, location) is not affected.
- Dark filter color — Night vision is best with blue hues visible, hence a red filter works best. Other colors may work better for color vision deficiencies.
Map Item Colors
Map Items are components imported through geoJSON files (e.g., from SARTopo). Lokate uses colors optimized for K9 handlers.
- Default Area Color — All imported areas (polygons)
- Active Area Color — The selected active area (only 1 allowed)
- Line Color — All line items
- Point Color — All point (marker) items
On Map Indicators (HUD)
Each parameter can be toggled on/off and is displayed in the Heads Up Display area of the map:
- Coordinates — Current phone location
- Speed — Current traveling speed
- Heading — Current compass heading (true north)
- Altitude — Current altitude
- Area distance and heading — Distance and heading to the Active Area
- Current Track Distance — Continuously updated distance covered by handler
- Current Assignment Duration — Continuously updated assignment time

- Include track data — Handler's and K9 recorded track data
- Include notes — Notes included as marker meta data
- Include images — Images included in HTML document
- Watermark photos — Location and heading "burned in" at the bottom of images. All photos contain meta data with location/heading regardless of this setting.
Canine Remote Receiver
- Track color — How connected K9 track data is displayed
- K9 name — Used for reporting
- Sensor platform [On | Off] — When On, Lokate continuously searches for a K9 Sensor Platform device. Once connected, K9 track and sensor data is automatically downloaded. Disconnect/reconnect is handled automatically.
- Platform ID — The ID of the K9 Sensor Platform device to connect to
SARTopo Connection
- SARTopo ID — Needed for CalTopo membership data upload. This internal ID ensures data is uniquely assigned.
